How to delete Sharepoint Site Office365

To delete a SharePoint site in Office 365, go to Settings>Site information. You will see an information panel that offers the option to delete site. You will need to confirm that the Office 365 group is being deleted and the associated site. Click Delete, then confirm. You don’t have to be able to do it, but you might.

Try hiding a Sharepoint site first

You may have to delete SharePoint sites that are truly a digital jungle. However, it is best to not rush into this process. If someone deletes something, it means they have deleted it. This means that even if somebody keeps a backup copy of the content, it will not be possible to recreate it.

The hide function is an alternative. Although it is more time-consuming than hitting delete, it is much easier than trying to recreate lost content. It hides the item rather than deleting it, as its name implies. Then you can wait to see if anyone complains about it. If you get no response, you can delete the file from the site. However, you should be cautious.

You need to be careful about deleting certain SharePoint elements

You should not leave certain SharePoint elements alone, unless you have thoroughly investigated them and are sure they are truly unwelcome by everyone. It is important to remember that an element which was originally created for one SharePoint site could have been used in another.

This is a great example. Security groups are one good example. You can easily delete a group as it is not needed by the SharePoint site where it was created. However, users may complain that they are receiving an “Access Denied” message from other SharePoint sites that “borrowed” it.

Limiting the amount of that is created in the first place is the best way to avoid deletes.

This is the most important rule in SharePoint management. You can’t let your employees use SharePoint like social media in their personal lives. This will lead to an unmanageable mess that is not only harmful to everyone but also may cause problems. You can avoid all the headaches by having clear rules and procedures about who is allowed to do what in what situations.

Pro tip: Team sites can be connected to Office 365 group. Each group should have more than one owner. They should be responsible for all aspects of managing the group. You should also ensure that they are responsible for any changes in ownership. As mentioned above, you should have a system to double-check that they are handling their responsibilities properly.

Good content-management practices can help avoid many problems

These are some tips that regular SharePoint users should understand quickly. They can help you avoid many problems as your SharePoint sites grow.

Use lists to create non-editable content and libraries to create editable content.

Make sure you properly classify your documents and, if necessary, give them security permissions.

Pro tip: If you create an alert for a document in SharePoint you will be notified whenever someone modifies, accesses or shares it. This is a convenient and secure alternative to manually checking audit logs.

Metadata should be preferred to folders. Remember that a document cannot be stored in more than one folder. You can’t store a document in more than one folder if it falls into more than one category. To do this, you must create multiple copies of the document and ensure that each copy has been updated with any changes. This creates confusion. Metadata, on the other hand, can be used to communicate everything a user needs about a document, and it’s searchable.
